STEPHEN BRAIN
Steve is well-known in the entertainment industry as an effective communicator, facilitator and
problem solver with proven success in directing operations, production and administration. He
has demonstrated a strong ability to drive reorganization initiatives, reduce overhead, and plan
/ control multi million-dollar budgets to contribute to the profitability of start-up, expanding and
established organizations. He is able to evaluate revenue/profit/loss data and plan for
improvements while focusing on effective cost management procedures.
Steve is currently a Partner in TROIKA PUBLISHING, Beverly Hills, CA, organizing the
publication of books and production of entertainment content. Steve is also a Principal of
RETREAT SEDONA INC, Pacific Palisades, CA, organizing and managing corporate and
business retreats, business conferences and the production of large expos.
Prior to that, he was President of MARCH ENTERTAINMENT GROUP, Palm Springs, CA,
providing business and management expertise to entertainment and business clients.
Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer, SPECTRUM STUDIOS, Los Angeles, CA, where he
was hired to spearhead the company’s reorganization. While there, he oversaw one of the
largest visual effects projects of its type on "Matrix Reloaded” & “Matrix Revolutions”. Before
that, Steve was Executive Vice President Production, STAN LEE MEDIA, Encino, CA, running
the production and post-production departments for the Internet media company. He
effectively implemented a production pipeline for flash animation, and directed an award
winning team of 110 artists which earned industry recognition and a reputation for high-quality
deliverables, while consistently remaining ahead of schedule and under budget.
As President & Executive Producer for WHITE TIGER PRODUCTIONS/ ARIZONA STUDIOS,
Phoenix, AZ, Steve started a production company for commercials and television production,
co-creating and producing 24 episodes of a children's game show for PAX TV. Responsible
for all aspects of the company, including administration, finance, business development,
marketing/PR, production and post-production, Steve oversaw predevelopment of Arizona
Studios, a 50-acre real estate project, managing the design team and negotiating with city and
state officials for zoning and entitlement's. He also co-wrote legislation allowing tax breaks for
the film-industry.
FOX ANIMATION STUDIOS, in Phoenix, AZ, retained Steve as Senior Vice President & General
Manager, from 1994 – 1996, where he was responsible for the start-up and day-to-day
management of the feature animation division of 20th Century Fox. He directed a team of over
320 artists, administrative and technical personnel, developing and administering a $100
million budget. An important aspect of his work there was establishing positive community
relations, working with community leaders, the local media and city, state federal officials.
Steve also served as an advisor to the Governor of Arizona and the State Film Commission.
As Executive Vice President of SILVER PICTURES / WARNER BROTHERS, Burbank, CA, he
oversaw daily operations of this production company founded by producer Joel Silver. Steve
focused on administration, business affairs, accounting and HR functions to maintain a well-run
operation as well as preparing / managing annual over-head budgets. He trimmed overhead
expenses while improving operations and profitability. Steve worked with the Governor of
North Carolina & Film Commission to develop a film studio in state.
STEPHEN J. CANNELL PRODUCTIONS, Hollywood, CA, relocated most of its production
operations to Vancouver in 1987 to take advantage of tax breaks and lower costs for film
production. As Vice President, Studio Operations, from 1983 through 1990, Steve oversaw all
studio & facility operations including the development of North Shore Studios in Vancouver and
over 2,000 employees.
Steve was Director Network Operations, for the FINANCIAL NEWS NETWORK, Santa Monica,
CA, and a Member of the team that founded this cable news network. He was responsible for
production and studio operations at facilities in Los Angeles, New York and Florida. FNN today
is CNBC.
Steve got his start in the entertainment industry as an assistant to television producer Glen
Larson at UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, Universal City, CA, and worked on such hit television shows
as “Battlestar Galactica,” “BJ & The Bear,” “The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries” and “Buck
Rogers in the 25th Century.” He was promoted to Associate Producer on the television show
“The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo” and was responsible for post production of each episode.
He has served on the Arizona Film & Television Advisory Board (State Film Commission), is a
member of the Board of Directors of the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of the
Arizona Biltmore Children's Charity, and a member of the Board of the Greater Phoenix
Economic Council (GPEC).




Producer / Consultant
